Divorce and Separation

It is a very worrying and emotional time when a family relationship breaks down. It is vital that you receive the right legal advice and guidance.

At P R Hanna, we have the expertise and experience to ensure that you have a clear understanding of the options available to you under the law which is delivered to you in a sensitive manner relative to you and your family’s needs.

We will do all we can to make the process easier for you, while at the same time making sure your best interests and financial position are protected.

If you’re worried about going through the courts, or the destructive impact of conflict, we may be able to help you reach an amicable resolution.

Our experienced solicitors could help you work with your ex-partner to find a solution that suits you both and allows you to maintain an amicable relationship, which can be particularly useful when children are involved.

It is not always possible for the parties to reach an agreement and we have the expertise to guide you through the legal/court process to get the best result for you.

We can also advise on and prepare separation agreements for those who wish to formalise their separation but are not yet ready to consider a divorce.

Our family law Department provides a full range of divorce/separation services, including:

  • Divorce
  • Judicial Separation
  • Ancillary Relief –  division of matrimonial assets

Our cost structures are clear and competitive and agreed with you at the outset. We will give you clear information about legal costs at each stage which will allow you to manage your outgoings. We offer fixed fees in regard to undefended divorces and Matrimonial and Separation Agreements.

Children

In many cases the most difficult issue arising from a relationship breakdown relates to the care and maintenance of children.

At P R Hanna we will support and advise you in order that you may agree arrangements with the other party to find a resolution which is in the best interests of the child/children without causing anger and bitterness between you and your ex-partner. From experience an arrangement agreed between the parties usually works better and causes less tension that those imposed by a court.

Though we do realise that it is not always possible to agree a resolution and that it is necessary for the court to intervene. We will guide you through the court process and fight for the best possible outcome for you and your children. We will be able to advise on what is likely to happen and how long things should take.

We appreciate that you will be anxious about how a court battle will affect your children and we will do everything we can to support you and your children through any issues that may arise.

We can advise on the following:-

  • Contact arrangements and proceedings – Who the child/children should see and when
  • Residence arrangements and proceedings –  Where the child/children should live
  • Child Maintenance arrangements
  • Change of child/children’s name, school etc
  • Relocation of Children
  • Adoption

If you are a grandparent and are worried about the effect a separation will have on your relationship with your grandchildren we can give you expert advice on your rights and the options available to you.
